Lord Grott is a cranky, miserable old miser whose only pleasure in life is saving money. He suddenly stumbles upon the best idea ever and it's not long before his bank statement shows the results - he has saved a fortune! But where is Lady Grott, and the servants..... and who is going to look after Lord Grott? Another amazing idea comes to mind and it's not long before Lord Grott has some new help .... a dog, a parrot and a monkey. But things soon turn sour and thankfully, just at the right time a HERO appears - the rat who lives in the attic at Grott Hall! Rat sorts everything out once and for all and finally puts Lord Grott exactly where he belongs - and you will have to buy a copy of the book to find out just where that is!

Authors have to do a lot of promotional work when their book is finished. Here's Steve with the well known Australian radio broadcaster Trevar Langlands who has a fantastic show on Radio 100.3fm in Australia. Steve said he was a little nervous talking to Trevar because not only is he a famous radio personality - he is also a published Author and has even acted on TV and in several films! He was really nice and made it easy for Steve - they talked live on air for 45 minutes!
Steve has to have his photograph taken over a thousand times every day (well..... it's really only about ten times and it's not every day). A lovely lady called Lily Ryan in London is in charge of Steve's publicity and she arranged for him to talk to lots of different media people about Lord Grott. Steve's wife Diane has the difficult job of getting him to where he is supposed to be at the right time and she is always by his side to make sure he doesn't get too boring or say something really silly - and that is without doubt the most difficult job of them all! Here are some of the drawings from the cover of Lord Grott of Grott Hall. It takes hours of work by the illustrator to make the character look the way the author wants. These drawing show how we developed Lord Grott and put him and Rat on the cover. It was fun for me but I think I sent the illustrator to the loony bin with all the changes I made - but look how good it turned out!
