Kinchela Public School
A collection of pictures and commentaries for our recent visit to Kinchela Public School. We were joined by some of the kids from nearby Gladstone Public School – both are historic village schools with only a few pupils. The attention and care they receive is impressive, and because of the low numbers, they get to experience many aspects of schooling and life that kids in larger schools do not enjoy.
Diane and I would like to thank Principal Mrs Osborne and the wonderful Mr Mitchell for arranging our visit and making us so welcome.
A wonderful letter from a serious reader of kids books, and possibly a future writer as well – Piya

I'M CHARCOAL CHICKEN...
You'll find my face in a little circle in many parts of this site and I'm here to tell you about Steve's booooks brrooookkkkss and bkkks...
Not all his books are still available in Australia, but remember there is always the Internet! Just ask your parents or an adult to help you find them. Steve's books are in most council libraries in Australia and they are also in lots and lots of school libraries. I know because he still gets letters from kids and whole classes and even teachers! If you want to write to Steve about books or anything else, you can find his address by clicking the 'Write to Steve' tab below. Steve's books are for kids who are nervous readers or who just don't enjoy reading, so they are always scary or funny, quirky and really weird!
Steve is also writing books for kids who want a longer story and less pictures, so there's something for everyone.
By the way, when you write to Steve can you complain that none of his books are written in chicken please?
Clllloooookkkkk brroookkkkk booooookkkkkkk!
